Spring Picnic
Saturday,
March 25, 2002

On Saturday, March 25, eighteen visually impaired students and their families members attended the annual Spring picnic and beeping Easter egg hunt. Activities included arts and crafts (coloring eggs, tactile pictures using Easter grass, eggshells, and feathers, bunny or chick tin craft, butterfly plant sticks and sewing buttons on a quilt), digging for candy in a tub full of Styrofoam peanuts, tossing a ball towards a beeping sound source, games with the DJ (hokey pokey, hot potato, dance contests, limbo, chicken dance) and a beeping Easter egg hunt. The event ended with lunch for everyone. An added bonus were 4 ducklings that the children were able to touch and holding our activities are critically important for the future success of any student with a visual loss.

Our next activity will be bowling and snacks on Saturday, April 20. Call Kimberly Paglia at 347-5501 for more information on how to join or help.
