    The Cavern

  1. Drape one or more blankets, sheets, or towels over chairs or tables to make a fun cavern. Small children (and even some bigger ones) really enjoy making these special, somewhat mysterious places to play and hide.
  2. Inside the cavern you can do lots of fun things:
    • Read a story
    • Pretend to be a lion, tiger, mouse, dog, rabbit or any other animal that sounds like fun.
    • Make a bed or other furniture out of pillows, blankets, or boxes.
    • While inside the cavern is a great time to experience the relationship of a floor to a ceiling or of walls to floors, etc. Use lots of words to help your child understand these concepts.
    • Eat a snack.

Senses used: proprioceptive, kinesthetic, haptic, hearing, smell, taste, touch, vision, echolocation, object perception
