Dress Us Up
- Gather all kinds of old clothes and costumes. For example: dad's old shirts, mom's high heels, purses, gloves, hats (LOTS OF HATS), aprons, skirts, nightgowns (satin ones feel so nice!), pajamas, vests, etc. Use your imagination!
- Designate one box or bag or area as the "Dress-up Clothes" area.
- Then, play dress up. Talk about the clothes as you help your child put them on. Let him choose which ones to put on. Its okay for boys to wear the heels and skirts and its okay for girls to wear dad's shirts and hats. Remember, its only pretend and we're learning much more than who is supposed to wear what.
- Talk about how your child is putting on the clothing. For example: "Your arm has to go IN the sleeve." "We'll button UP the shirt." "Let's slide the dress OVER your head." "Stand on one foot and balance so you can put on the pants."
- Pictures of the finished product are always fun for grandmas, grandpas or other relatives and friends.
- When finished, your child should help scoop all the clothes to be put away.
