Push Me - Pull You
- Put your child on a blanket in the position that he's most comfortable.
- Pull the blanket gently. Be sure to let him keep his balance.
- As he gets used to the movement, you can pull faster.
- Then try starting and stopping. Always warn him verbally before you start and stop.
- If your child is walking, let him have a turn pulilng a favorite stuffed animal on the blanket.
- Use the word "pull" as much as possible and describe the surfaces that you are pulling him over (tile floor, carpet, etc.)
- Pull the blanket over other objects and then talk about how that object felt (for example: a pillow, toys, bean bag chairs, or Dad!)
- Then gently "push" your child off of the blanket. You sit on the blanket and let him push you off. Use the word "push" as much as possible. Let your child push stuffed animals off his blanket and then put them back on for another ride.
