    Scoopers
Fill a small container (plastic tub, box, old butter tub or ice cream carton) with any one of the following items:
  • rice
  • beans
  • macaroni
  • oatmeal
  • grits
  • pea gravel
  • sand
OR...make SUPER SAND (Katz, 1982)
    Combine the following:
    • 4 cups dried used coffee grounds
    • 1 cup floud
    • 2 cups cornmeal
    • 1/2 cup salt
Then do the following activities:
  1. Pour the items from one cup to another.
  2. Use a spoon and scoop the items into a cup or pan.
  3. Hide fun toys in the tub and reach through to find them with hands.
  4. Find the toys with feet, too.
  5. Put one bean or macaroni or gravel at a time into a narrow necked bottle.
  6. Watch the scooper item go through a funnel or collander.

Senses used: proprioceptive, kinesthetic, haptic, tactile, hearing, vision, echolocation
